Scenario
As I walk through the park, an arrow points to one of the paths. It’s labeled as “music maker”. I step up the stony steps and come to an open stage with a set of incredibly large instruments. As I make my way to centre stage, a persistent beat grows louder. As I approach the instruments, I realize that the drums are built like a bouncy castle at the fair. I duck underneath the plastic flap and inside the drums. Beneath the drum’s exterior are a group of people bouncing against the walls and floor of the drum, creating a distinct beat and rhythm. As I start to jump up and down, I can feel the beat I am creating blend in with the others. The vibrations of the combined beat travel through me and connect me to everyone else in the drum, even though they are strangers.
I exit the drum and walk along the stage. In the middle, there is a dance floor of squares. As I walk across, mellow tones play as they light up beneath my feet. The beat from the bouncing drum castles accompanies the music on the dance floor, creating a unique and personalized sound. It’s the sound of a community!

Marketing Team: Name, posters, etc.
The name for the design is "Bang Shack Smoke Hut." It sounds weird right? But that's exactly the reaction we want. We wanted a name that would grab people's attention, maybe even mislead them a bit because this is such a short notice event. We also wanted to use a name that sounds kind of funky and fun, reflecting the characteristic of the Kensington neighborhood.
Our team also came up with a bunch of poster ideas, you can see them posted below. We wanted to use a funky, sort of cheesy jungle theme, because it not only relates to the bongos and the inscence, but we figured the dome to be like a hut as well. The cheesyness and random looking jungle images will also capture the attention and reel in their curiousity.

For the budget for printing, the marketing team is willing to pay up to 60-80 dollars for printing depending on how many copies we make. We haven't yet come up with an esstimate
We were also thinking about creating a facebook group for the event and inviting friends, because the word tends to catch quick on the web.

Drum Dome Scenario
I am looking for some inspiration for a music piece I am struggling with, and I am walking through Kensington market which is always filled with eccentric and interesting people. Just as I am humming the music to the song in my head, I hear a faint drumming just around the corner. I keep walking towards the sound, intrigued by its persistent and steady tempo. By the time I turned the corner, the sound of drumming was louder and I could locate the source. I turned into Kensington Park, and see a dome-like structure that looks like a shell and reminds me of a tribal hut of some kind made from cardboard, fabric and found materials. Inside, there are a handful of different people from many walks of life, playing on the drums that lay before them, on the ground and on their laps. The atmosphere seemed very welcoming as there was dim lighting inside the dome except for a few streams of lights coming in through makeshift windows. There was a nice smell of incense that intrigued my senses even more and the floor was covered in fabric so I thought it was a fairly decent set-up for an urban park with lots of motion and people. What got me to sit down was the fact that they sounded very focused on what they were playing, but looked genuinely relaxed and happy. They almost didn't notice that I came in but when I saw an empty spot and sat down, someone gestured towards a drum nearby. I saw what everyone was doing, hitting the drum with their hands and a couple found sticks, so I joined in. The drumming was not frantic or complicated, it was steady enough to accommodate the professional and the amateur musician in all of us. I was surprised, but the most inspiring thing was seeing the children hitting the drums with little attention to the rhythm - but the contrast of their inconsistencies against the steadiness inspired new rhythms and possibilities that could not be achieved by following a pattern. The drumming progressed, but the people changed, switching as more people gathered around to listen and even clap along. It was a wonderful experience that I did not expect to have composed itself in Kensington Park with nobody to supervise. I will visit again and maybe convince others to visit this great experience that left me with just the inspiration I needed.

Battle of the Drummers!

It’s a warm summer night, and I’m walking briskly to get home after a long day at work. As I pass the park near my neighborhood, I suddenly hear a muffled sort of drumming. When I turn the corner, I see a huge, white, tent like structure. Through the fabric I can see shadows of people moving, and what looks like a fire flickering. My first thought is, “Oh no, looks like some kind of cult”, and I try to walk faster past the structure. As I get closer, I hear people laughing, and my apprehension is slightly lifted. “Normal” looking people are going in and coming out of the tent, and I can smell corn on the cob and roasted marshmallows (yum!).
I walk up to the tent and peek inside. The tent is divided along the diagonal and it looks like two stages are set up, creating two teams of drummers. Each of the teams takes a turn and they are drumming tunes back and forth in a sort of “battle of the drums”. It looks like there’s a good old fashioned barbeque right in the middle and everyone’s having a great time.
As I’m about to turn around and head home, one of the drummers spots me and invites me in to have a go on one of the drums. Since I’m not very musically inclined, I feel a bit shy and nervous as I take my seat. But once the drumming starts, it becomes clear that this is all about having fun! As the group on the other side of the tent completes their slow and rhythmic drumming segment, our side answers with a lighthearted medley of quick beats. The audience cheers loudly after each iteration and the sounds change as drummers swap on and off each team, and join the audience. I feel exhilaration course through me as I channel the day’s ups and downs through my fingers and onto the drum in front of me.
After a few rounds, I get up to give someone else a chance at the drums and enjoy a nice roasted corn on the cob before heading home, excited and relaxed.

Project 3 Construction team
My head gets stuck on math problems. I want to have rest in the nearest park in my house. As soon as arrive in the park, I can see trees and grass on the ground. I can smell fresh airs in open space. I can hear that people are playing piano, guitar and… drum? I can see piano and guitar but where is drum? I turn my head and try to find where the sound is coming from. Finally I can see big wooden dome.
Is this dome a music box? No I can see some plays drum which is made of branches. The inside is hiding from sun which is cool down the temperature of inside. I can smell the wood since it was made of wood. I can see stone which are stuck in wall. I just take wood stick from outside and start to hit the stone. They make different sounds and I start to play random rhythm. The drum player start to cooperate with me and we start to make new music. Then we switch the drum and stick, and play again. The size of the drum was small that I can squeeze with my two arms. I feel I am holding a big yoga ball. The texture of the branch was rough. I look around the place and I like the surrounded area that gives private place for insider.

After we finish the music, we talk for a while. We come out from the dome and we start to swim in the fountain!

Project 3
Scenario
My head is stuck and I cannot think a perfect rhythm that fits into my new song. I decide to go out get fresh air and inspiration for my song. I walk into Kensington Park to enjoy the environment and sunshine of today. Then I see a big green dome in the park, which is covered by plants. I can smell the fresh air from the plants when I walk close to the dome. I walk into the dome and find six small drums and chairs on the ground. The drums are made by woods and the chairs are made by stone. I sit on the stone chair and start to play the drum. I hit different part of the drum and it produces different sound. I start to play the drum faster and faster and I can hear the echo of the drum sound in the dome. I have so much passion on playing the rhythm on the drum. My head is full of new ideas for my new song, and I experiment them on the small drum. A man walks into the dome with a guitar and sits down beside me, and then he plays the drum to follow my rhythm. After the jamming, I talk with him for half hour. He is a very nice guy and I want to jamming music with him in next time. Therefore we exchange our contact information before we leave the dome. At the end of the day I make a new friend and create a perfect rhythm for my song in the dome of Kensington Park.
